WISE designed the Thermalshell 222 for ultra-trail running in cold weather. This version was reworked based on runners' feedback and the brand's own field experience: the fit is a little roomier, the sleeves block wind more effectively and a new layout of fabrics adds warmth without adding weight. Merino wool covers the upper chest and shoulders, where the body loses the most heat, while a more breathable fabric is used on the sides. Packed into its back pocket, the jacket slips easily into a running belt or a trail pack.
