Born in a Melbourne garage in 2014, now worn by WorldTour riders, MAAP is the brand that proved cycling clothing could be as demanding on the road as it is on the design front. Its selection is now available at Centre Commercial Outdoor, 10 rue de Marseille in Paris.
Some brands refuse to choose between aesthetics and performance. MAAP is one of them. Born in 2014 in Melbourne, Australia, the brand was founded by Jarrad Smith and Oliver Cousins, two enthusiasts from the worlds of design, fashion and competitive cycling. Their starting ambition fit in a single line: create the cycling clothes they wished they could wear, pieces that perform on the road without sacrificing appearance. Ten years later, MAAP equips a UCI WorldTour team and operates seven stores worldwide. Explore the MAAP selection at Centre Commercial Outdoor →
The story of MAAP begins in a Melbourne garage. Jarrad Smith, a former racer and cycling team manager, teamed up with Oliver Cousins, a designer who had worked at Stussy, Mambo and Globe, brands rooted in skate and surf culture. The starting point was a shared observation: cycling clothing is often technical but rarely beautiful. The two founders decided to fill that gap by creating their first bib short, developed through extensive testing and iteration until they had a product with no compromise.
The name "MAAP" itself carries this dual ambition. Variously interpreted as "Make Ascend And Persist" or "Merging Aesthetics And Performance", it says everything about the brand's philosophy: never separate form from function. MAAP jerseys, bib shorts, jackets and accessories are designed to withstand all conditions, with constant attention paid to material selection, cut and finish.
MAAP is the first cycling brand to join the Bluesign system as a full partner, a commitment that guarantees the traceability and sustainability of its materials, from raw fibre to finished product. Today, 95% of the materials used by MAAP are Bluesign or Oeko-Tex certified. Pro jerseys are made from 100% post-consumer polyester and recycled elastane sourced from industrial waste. The brand has also launched the OffCuts programme, which repurposes fabric remnants from previous production runs into limited edition pieces. These are not symbolic gestures, they are a structural way of operating.
In 2025, MAAP reached a milestone by becoming the kit partner of the Jayco-AlUla team on the UCI WorldTour circuit, the highest level of professional cycling. A recognition that confirms performance and design can coexist at the summit of the sport.
At Centre Commercial Outdoor, we have selected the pieces that best embody the spirit of the brand, organised around three essentials:
Bib shorts: from the WorldTour-worn Pro Bib 2.0 to the Apex Aeon and the Spectrum Team Bib Evo Cargo with its side pockets for gravel or long-distance rides, our selection covers every level of practice and every condition. See MAAP bib shorts →
Jerseys: short-sleeve in recycled nylon for summer rides, long-sleeve Pro Air for cool mornings and mid-season outings, each jersey is designed to regulate temperature, wick moisture and hold its shape kilometre after kilometre. See MAAP jerseys →
Helmets: the result of a collaboration between MAAP and Italian manufacturer KASK, the Protone Icon combines the benchmark in road helmets with MAAP's design eye. Available in two colourways, Silver and Charcoal. See MAAP x KASK helmets →
At MAAP, sizing depends above all on the fit level you choose. The brand offers several degrees of cut, each tailored to a type of practice and body shape. Understanding this logic is the key to finding the right size first time.
Pro Fit (ultra-aero and compressive): this is the most form-fitting cut in the range, designed for cyclists seeking maximum aerodynamics and compression. The Spectrum Pro Air 3.0 long-sleeve jersey and the Pro Bib 2.0 are cut in this mould. The fabric hugs the body without a crease, every panel shaped to follow the riding position. If you're between two sizes, go for the larger one: the fabric's compression will take up the slack.
Team Fit (high-performing and versatile): a step down from Pro Fit in terms of compression, Team Fit offers a snug but more forgiving cut, suited to long rides as well as intensive training. The Spectrum Team Bib Evo Cargo falls into this category. It is the fit we recommend for regular riders who want a high-performing bib short without the constraint of a race cut.
Emerge range (essential and comfortable): MAAP's entry-level range, with a more relaxed cut that suits experienced cyclists on recovery days as well as those just starting out. The Emerge jersey in recycled nylon sits in this category. Less compressive, more breathable, it is the jersey you pull on without thinking for a morning ride.
Generally speaking, MAAP sizes true to European standards. For bib shorts, the chamois is dimensioned to perform optimally in the chosen size, so sizing up for comfort is not recommended. When in doubt, the safest option is to visit Centre Commercial Outdoor and try them on.
Born from the vision of VEJA, Centre Commercial naturally shares the same convictions as MAAP: the conviction that you can demand the best from a product without turning a blind eye to how it is made. MAAP doesn't do green marketing, MAAP integrates recycled and certified materials into pieces that perform at the highest level in the world. It is as simple and as demanding as that. In a cycling landscape where brands are multiplying, MAAP has the rare merit of offering equipment worn on the WorldTour, designed with a designer's eye and manufactured with materials whose traceability is verifiable. This is exactly the kind of approach that Centre Commercial Outdoor seeks to champion: concrete, high-performing, and driven by a long-term vision rather than a seasonal trend.
