For this case, Porter Yoshida & Co. uses cowhide treated with the house's own shrinking process, which creates its irregular grain. Because the leather is vegetable tanned, the natural veining of the hide stays visible and no two pieces look the same. With use, the leather gradually darkens, builds a distinct patina and softens day after day. Diamond needle stitching forms double rows of stitches along the edges, which makes this small format more stable.
