The renowned furniture brand was founded in the Swiss village of Münsingen in 1885. Originally founded as a locksmith and metalworker, it quickly evolved into a major player in modular furniture. The real boom began when Paul Schaerer, grandson of founder Ulrich Schaerer, took over the reins of the company in 1961. Under his leadership, USM Haller, the company's first iconic modular furniture system, was developed in collaboration with Swiss functionalist architect Fritz Haller in 1965. Today, the system is recognized worldwide for its exceptional durability and modern yet timeless aesthetic.
