Utensils needed:
Brush(es), old toothbrush, rags, leather shampoo, two bowls filled with water

- Remove dust and dirt with a dry brush.
- Clean with a damp cloth:
• Open the flanges. Clean the inner side with a damp brush.
• Then clean the outside of the flanges with a damp brush.
• Lather the leather shampoo with a little water on the footbed in circular motions. Ideally, use an old toothbrush to help the product penetrate.
- Using a wet cloth, wash your sandals in warm water. Be careful not to put your shoes directly under running water or get them completely wet.
- Clean the sole:
• If needed, you can wash the sole with a damp brush.
• Then clean the sole with a damp cloth.
- Allow to dry completely:
• Dry your sandals at room temperature to maintain their absorbency. Do not place your sandals in the sun or on a radiator.
• Your sandals should be completely dry after 24 hours. You can now brush the footbed with a leather brush and close the straps.
• You can put your sandals back on.

How do I protect my Birkenstock sandals?
- Spray the leather upper of your sandals regularly with a colorless waterproofing spray (use sparingly and follow the instructions). To do this, cover the footbed with a piece of paper to protect it and only spray the outside of the footbed.
