The cotton is grown in Brazil and Peru by associations that respect people and the environment, in accordance with fair trade principles. In Brazil, the cotton is organic and agroecological, a form of agriculture that enriches the land after it has been cultivated by enhancing crop diversity and soil water retention. In Peru, organic cotton farmers are accompanied in their certification process, and receive technical and financial support to improve their production.
